minimalism

Gucci, Fall 2010
Minimalism, this fall, is about choosing  simple-silhouetted dresses, simple tailored trousers, and simple non-eye-catching shoes: the emphasis is on clean, simple lines with a smattering of elaborate detailing and fabric textures. Minimalism is about leaving the loud colors and bold patterns of Spring 2010 behind, and, in turn, switching to a muted palette of navy, black, grays, browns, nudes, and almost-brown purples. However, this trend is anything but boring; it makes up for the lack of exciting colors with a multitude of textures such as lace and velvet, as well as jackets with feather detailing and dresses with sequin detailing. Another mark of this trend is geometric; jackets with squarish collars, boxy jackets, and dresses with geometric cutouts.
